Dear
Arizona Members
of NBHA,
I'd like to start
off thanking Tammy Campbell for her work as
State Director. We’ve been talking a lot lately
and Tammy has spent time transitioning
everything over to me so she can head to
Colorado. Moving
is hectic, so I really appreciate her support
and her commitment to helping NBHA continue and
thrive. Thanks Tammy!
To those of you
who know me, hello again; and to any new members
who don’t know me, my name is Jan Finney. As
you may know, I was
Arizona’s State Director and AZ02 District
Director from 1997-2003. I am back after a
three year break, and I feel rejuvenated and
excited about this new opportunity with NBHA.
My commitment to
NBHA and all of you is to build on the successes
from past experiences and continue to grow and
learn as we work to make NBHA a great Barrel
Racing Organization here in
Arizona.
However, before
we look to the future I want to take a moment
and
share
honestly why I took a
“break” from NBHA. In the past, there was much
concern with how NBHA races were ran when we
combined and tried to compete with other barrel
racing organizations by joining forces with
them. Members and National were confused and
there were so many break downs in communication
and gaps in information that the worst was
presumed. I look back and understand things
much clearer now than I did before, in fact,
we
all have learned from the issues that came up
then and
realize that
there were many breakdowns in communication that
I can improve upon from now on.
That’s why I want
to put it right in front of you that
in
our future, we
may have to do
similar things to grow NBHA in AZ. I bring this
to your attention because
I
want to make sure everyone understands the
reasons
and strategy
for
co-sactioning and
partnering with other organizations, and has an
opportunity to ask questions and offer
suggestions for how we should go forward.
Doing so will be a benefit to NBHA and to our
membership. Here’s why….
Right now there
are many choices in
Arizona for Barrel Racing.
I
firmly believe that it is in the best interest
of NBHA for NBHA producers to work with other
producers and organizations
in
order to
sustain and grow
our position in this
competitive
marketplace.
This may involve
partnering with other organizations, co-sactioning,
and it most certainly will involve a lot of
coordination with Arizona producers so we select
weekends that
make it easy for
riders
to “choose” to
come to our NBHA events.
It is my focus
and goal is to insure that NBHA is marketed in
such a way that we draw riders to our events and
I am personally committed the success of the
NBHA organization and will always insure that
NBHA is a priority.
Thank you again
for your trust and confidence in me!
Now and always, you are welcome to email me
